Alles an ihnen, Knochen und Hormone, motorische Intelligenz und die poetisch entflammbaren Hirnregionen, macht sich locker für ein Spielerisches, das als Wortspiel und 'Spazierklang' dem gleichen Synapsenverbund zu entspringen scheint. Die beiden Pen Brüder sägen ständig an den Ästen und Sprosssen, auf denen sie umeinander springen, selbst der Rückgriff greift nach etwas, das so noch nicht war.

Die Musik von über hundert Jahren prickelt als Jazz Sprizz immer "jetzt" aus den Fingerspitzen. Auch mit besinnlichem Arpeggio und träumerischen Luftlöchern, aber frei von abgeschmackter Spätromantik, neusachlich abgeklärt und modernistisch acceleriert zum Chipping, das Sekunden und Sekundenbruchteile abschnitzelt. So wie Guantes seine singenden und bei 'Flowfly' besonders schön summenden Saiten auch klapprig anschlägt oder schrammt und schnarrt. Bergmann pickt Splitter und dirty Notes, dass es leicht dissonant klirrt, macht es nur reizvoller.

Wollte man ihn zwischen Bill Evans und Cecil Taylor suchen, fände man ihn in der Nähe von Paul Bley, dem er mit 'Quiet bley' zuzwinkert, um dann doch sein eigenes Spiel zu spielen. Nur zu gern kapriolt er übers Holz und die Drähte des Innenklaviers, aber Guantes kann und mag das ebenso. Beiden juckt es in den Fingern, die Bremsleitung wird angesägt, so manche Note übersprungen, überflogen. Dem Labyrinth wachsen Flügel, Perlen zerspritzen quick und silbrig. Bei 'hymnus'n humus' vereint Guantes Tiefstes mit Höchstem, bei 'all or all not...' spielt Bergmann Fitzel von Arthur Altman und er die Punkte.

Jeder Ton ein Treffer, denn die "Sort Stories" sind ohne Hurz großer Sport, als ein Optimum, was an Bass und Klavier zu kriegen ist.
